Physics Labs 001-002 & 003-004

Description
In the lab portion of Physics 001-002 and 003-004, students work in teams of two to study a set of eleven physical situations each semester. Each team is assigned a lab station equipped with the apparatus needed for that week. These Physics labs have been using technology as a part of their enterprise for over a decade. The use of computerized data acquisition has allowed students to study a variety of phenomena that were previously beyond their reach. Some of these phenomena took place too quickly to be studied using other methods. In some cases, however, the biggest benefit from the computer interfacing is that the student gets immediate feedback in graphical form. Prior to the use of such interfacing, students prepared graphs by hand and would wait until the night before the lab is due to
