Records of an association of Catholic radio and television professionals. Correspondence, publications, photographs, and proceedings of general assemblies and awards banquets comprise the bulk of the collection. Correspondence, photographs, pamphlets, press releases, and proceedings of general assemblies and presentation of the Gabriel Award for outstanding broadcast journalism.

Historical Note

The Catholic Broadcasters Association was founded in 1948 and succeeded by UNDA-USA in 1972. In 2002, the Catholic Academy for Communication Arts Professionals succeeded UNDA-USA. Both successor associations continued the sponsorship of the Gabriel Awards, which the Catholic Broadcasters had established in 1965.

Catholic Broadcasters Association Series 3, Gabriel Award: Comprised of nominations, lists of recipients, comments by the judges, award banquet invitations, programs, scripts, and certificates. The succeeding Gabriel Award records are included in the records of UNDA-USA, Series 3.

Catholic Broadcasters Association Series 4, Publications: Newsletters and pamphlets produced by the Catholic Broadcasters Association.

Catholic Broadcasters Association Series 5, Press Releases: Press releases of the Catholic Broadcasters Association.

Catholic Broadcasters Association Series 6, General Scripts: Collected from other organizations by the Catholic Broadcasters Association.

Catholic Broadcasters Association Series 7, Photography: Black & white photographic prints produced by/for and collected by the Catholic Broadcasters Association.

Catholic Broadcasters Association Series 8, Audio-Visual Recordings: Sound and motion picture recordings of interest to Catholic communications. Formats: 16 mm motion picture, reel to reel, and 33 1/3 rpm disc.
