Historical Note

The National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors is a professional membership organization within the Catholic Church that traces its origins to 1962 when the West-Midwest Vocation Directors and the Eastern Seaboard Vocation Directors agreed to hold a joint national convention. Formally established in 1971, the service organization has a national office located in Chicago, IL and offers membership opportunities to national and international diocesan vocation offices. It supports the assessment and training of priestly candidates, encourages the formation of seminarians, and promotes the interests of diocesan vocation ministry, including the Fishers of Men program and issues dealing with the Program for Priestly Formation. In addition to holding an annual convention and offering regional activities for its members, the organization publishes a newsletter, directories, and journals. The Executive Board members are elected and include the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, two members-at-large, as well as the Past President and the Executive Director. The NCDVD's website provides a list of officers, information for members, a calendar of upcoming events, and other resources related to the organization.
