History: St. Patrick Church, Adamsville, Jefferson County, Alabama, has been a predominantly non-Native American parish in the Diocese of Birmingham (Archives: Birmingham, Alabama).

1988-present

Birmingham diocesan priests established St. Patrick’s through the merger of four nearby rural parishes

1990s-present

Native American (e.g. Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Shawnee) and non-Native American parishioners founded the Ninety-first Kateri Circle as an intertribal group for prayer and Native American evangelization and as a local chapter of the national Tekakwitha Conference
