History: The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet were founded in France, ca. 1650, and made their first U.S. foundation, 1836. Sisters from the St. Louis Province, founded 1836, have taught at the following Catholic schools serving Native American students:

1866-1873

St. Mary School (Ojibwa), Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan

1866-1906  

St. Francis Xavier School (Ojibwa), L'Anse, Michigan

1883-present 

St. Michael Mission and St. Joseph School (Menominee), Keshena, Wisconsin

1892-1934

Nazareth Academy (Cherokee, Creek), Muskogee, Oklahoma

 

History: The Los Angeles Province was founded, 1878, with the Sisters of St. Joseph (Lewiston, Idaho) merging with the province, 1925. Sisters from the Los Angeles Province have taught at the following Catholic and Government schools serving Native American students:

1873-1932 (transferred to Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange)
