Employment documents (I-9)

  • I-9 employment eligibility verification form
  • Form also available from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services I-9 website.
  • International Student I-9 Information: International (F-1 visa) students must present appropriate documentation to complete their I-9 forms. If they choose to present their I-94 forms and are unable to retrieve their I-94 forms from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Agency’s website, and are unable to present other acceptable I.D.(s) as specified in List A of the I-9 instructions, they should contact the local (Milwaukee) CBP Deferred Inspection Site for assistance (click on the Chicago drop down option to see contact information for CBP’s Milwaukee Deferred Inspection Site).  Students contacting the Milwaukee site should provide a brief explanation of the issue (e.g., I-94 shows travel history but can’t print I-94) and be ready to provide supporting documentation (e.g., their MU I-20, airline tickets, etc.). When students have access to their I-94 forms they can complete the I-9 form process. Students who cannot view or print their I-94 form within 3 days of the start of their on-campus employment will need to pause their on-campus employment. When they can submit their I-94 forms to the Graduate School and complete the I-9 process, they can continue working.
